Valentine’s Day is the time when people show appreciation, devotion, and love to their better halves. Of course, a healthy relationship would require these on a daily basis, but one cannot resist doing this over the season of love J. And, if your loved one is a vegan then you will really have to make sure they don’t miss out on anything say chocolate or dessert. I have a few suggestions so read along. Valentine Gifts Any Vegan Would Love I don’t know about you, but I have always loved gifts that were made especially for me. And no, I am not referring to customized gifts that someone has to pay through the nose for, quite the contrary. I love when someone has put a little bit of effort into the gift they are presenting me with. And the same goes for things I like to give out as gifts, so here are a few easy to prepare gift ideas that vegans will love. Cards All you will need is some colorful papers, a pair of scissors, glue, markers and a photo of you and your loved one. Since being vegan is more often a lifestyle than a particular diet, what you write should be connected to this topic this way or another. You make my heart skip a beet! I'm bananas for you! You are so grape! These are just random examples I found on the web, but you can think of even more creative ones. T-Shirts You can get some of the above-mentioned lines and reuse them by printing them out on a t-shirt. To make it even more personalized, get your and your boyfriend’s/girlfriend’s initials imprinted on the back. If you can boast with some sewing skills, then go ahead and use different vegan fabrics for each letter, your loved one will be thrilled. Vegan Recipes for the Best Valentine’s Date Did I mention that I love it when my gifts come in the form of food? Well, yes! I love it when someone has puts an effort into preparing something. Even vegan recipes as simple as vegan pancakes will do. I am not asking for much (only attention). Vegan Recipe: Dinner Keep it simple, a nice pasta meal will be more than enough. Just go for any shape of vegan pasta and prepare it following the package directions. As for the sauce go for one that is tomato based, because tomatoes, just like love, are red. I know it is love that you have to celebrate, so skip the garlic and onion that are present in many of the recipes, instead add parsley and basil. A tablespoon of tomato paste 800 g of chopped peeled tomatoes some salt and ground black and a teaspoon of sugar. Vegan Recipes: Dessert You can always go for a box of delicious non-dairy chocolates, but it is all the better if you make something yourself. And don’t worry, there are hundreds of step-by-step vegan recipes on the web that will definitely come in handy.
My personal favorite? The Vegan Strawberries and Cream Cupcakes. Strawberries scream love, plus you can always cut them in half and place them on top of the cupcake to represent heart shapes. You will only need around 40 minutes start to end and what’s more, you will get as many as 16 cupcakes. You can also go for a vegan pancake recipe. The Red Velvet Pancakes are always a great idea, and to prepare them just get the classic recipe and make it vegan yourselves. Replace the dairy milk with almond, rice, or coconut milk. Replace the eggs with flax eggs (say if the recipe calls for two eggs, use two tablespoons of ground flaxseed and the same amount of water, mix well and let it stay in the fridge for a little while). Also use a vegan butter. And, if you don’t feel you can handle a vegan recipe that includes cooking and baking, then just buy a box of strawberries, buy some vegan chocolate and bamboo skewers. Melt the chocolate (just put it in the microwave with only a tiny bit of vegan butter) put each strawberry on a skewer and dip it in the chocolate. In the end, you can wrap them in paper and make them look like a bouquet of roses. Go ahead and make Valentine’s day special for you and your significant other, even if they are not vegan some of these recipes and gifts will sure be enough to show them how much you care.
